
Cara Well – Hi! I am a freshman from Chicago, Illinois. I am currently studying Economics, and am also interested in Organizational Studies, Business, and Sustainability. I took this class because I wanted to see how a TV show could connect to philosophy, and during this course I have become extremely interested in how memory relates to consciousness.

Stephanie Smith – Hi! I am a freshman from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am currently studying Neuroscience, and am also interested in psychology, environmental science, and anthropology. I took this class because I have always loved philosophy wanted to gain an overview of some of the major historical philosophers’ thinking and apply it to a modern topic. Through this course I have become very curious about how how different stimuli/feelings and our experiences of them shape our unique consciousnesses.

Kelsey Walworth – Hello! I am a freshman from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am planning to study Biology, but I’m also interested in pharmaceutical science and writing! I chose to take this class because I had never studied philosophy and wanted to learn about how the ideas of major philosophers might apply to modern life. Throughout this course, I’ve become interested in the role physical perceptions play in determining whether we are living in a virtual reality.

Lanny Lo – Hey! My name is Lanny and this is my first year at the University of Michigan. I’m from Lansing, MI and am a current Pharmaceutical Sciences major. This class piqued my interest because I am a sucker for exploring shows in depth. I love the new considerations and connections we jump off from Westworld. Throughout the course of this class, I have definitely explored the idea of a supreme being and our free will in the context of consciousness more deeply.

Aakarsh Verma – Hey! I’m Aakarsh. I’m a freshman from Ann Arbor studying Biophysics and Asian Studies. At Michigan, I seek to learn about different countries’ scientific and sociocultural approaches to healing and wellness. To widen my scope of study, I decided to take this course and learn about the philosophy of the mind. Through this course, I’ve found many opportunities to question the mind’s role as a tool to secure mental wellness.

Emanuele Ermini – Hi! My name is Emanuele and I am a freshman from New York. I am planning to major in economics but I also have an interest in statistics and data analysis. I decided to take the class because I enjoy engaging with complex topics, which consciousness certainly is. Throughout the class I focused on the role that the senses play in forming our consciousness.
